72 Hour Challenge 2021
The A3F presents Fright Fest 2 "Hallway of Horrors," a 72 Hour Short Film Challenge that took place October 8-11, 2021. Thirty teams of filmmakers set out to make a 1-5 minute film in the horror genre in just 3 days or 72 hours! Participating Teams.
The 16 films that beat the 72 hour deadline will screen on Thursday, October 21 at AMC Arizona Center 24 Theatres (565 N 3rd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004) in downtown Phoenix. The screening is from 7-9p.m. with an Awards presentation following the films. Tickets are $10 each and now on sale.

COVID-19 Information: We encourage all those attending the Public Screening to wear masks when in the theatre when not eating or drinking. We have a large theatre rented so there should be plenty of room to spread out and maintain social distance.
**The Almost Famous Film Festival and its affiliates and sponsors, despite its reasonable efforts to follow applicable guidelines, cannot completely mitigate the transfer of communicable diseases like COVID-19. Attending an event hosted by The A3F includes possible exposure to COVID-19, and any resulting illness or injury from it. Each guest assumes the risk of personal injury, medical treatment, illness, and/or death that may result. Furthermore, everyone who attends a performance releases and waives A3F Incorporated, and all officers, directors, agents, employees, and representatives of these institutions from any and all liability, causes of action, claims, damages, or other costs arising out of any exposure to or illness or injury from a communicable disease, including COVID-19, which may result from having attending an event.
All films must contain a scene in a hallway or corridor and incorporate the following guidelines:
Theme: A Scary Encounter
Prop: A Photograph (a character must show/take a photograph, can be any kind of photograph)
Line of Dialogue: "Did you hear that?"
Films must be 5 minutes long or less, you can add up to 30 seconds of credits.
All footage should be shot during the 72 hour time period (animators are allowed to create pre-challenge templates).
Filmmakers should own all rights to any footage and/or music within their films.
Although we do not censor your films, gratuitous violence for no purpose will lower your scores.
Please abide by any/all local guidelines and rules concerning COVID-19.
Cast and crew must promise to have fun and become Almost Famous!
Jason Francois - As Assistant A3F Director, Jason brings a wealth of film knowledge and experience to the panel. Jason excels in script-writing, directing and has a technical expertise on a movie set that has translated into several award-winning short films and a feature currently on Netflix.
Laurie Love - Laurie is an Arizona native, SAG-AFTRA Actress, Producer, Writer, and Stuntwoman whom found her love of filmmaking and the love of her life, director Brian Skiba, while competing in the Almost Famous Film Festival. She is currently writing, developing, acting and producing on several projects from Los Angeles and honored to be invited to judge.
Nathan Blackwell - As a writer and director Nathan has won nearly twenty awards from past A3F events. He's best known for the sci-fi comedy web series "Voyage Trekkers", which is a lot like the show "The Orville", but actually funny.
Jae Staats - Founded the A3F in 2005 to bring a high-quality and filmmaker-inspired festival to the valley. Jae also runs BallBoy Productions, a local video production company and has collaborated on several award-winning short films and national commercials.
